Small Recap 6/24

June 25, 2009

For those of you who weren’t able to be at small group yesterday, here’s some of the highlights:

John 15:  “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.  If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.  If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.  By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.”

Are you abiding in Him day to day?

There’s a part of the maturing process that occurs when we no longer sum up our weeks by all the bad stuff that happened, people who made us mad, or things that didn’t go our way.

God is good every day of every week. If we can’t think of anything good He’s done, it’s not because He didn’t do anything–it’s because we’re so focused on us that we miss the ways He’s at work.

When we are wrapped up in Him, we begin to ask Him for things that aren’t always about us. And He does them. Because when we ask and He does things that we couldn’t have done on our own, only He gets the glory for that.

So, what are you asking for? What are you believing God for? Get the big picture in mind! What is in your heart that you long to see Him do for someone else? He wants to blow your mind with the things He will do when you ask Him for things out of a desire to see His glory.

Yeah, you shoulda been there :)

A Sign from God for Megan

May 30, 2009

I have been having a really rough month. My mom and I have went through so much. Friends, school and everything has bothered me. so i was at the point where i had nothing left to offer. so i cried. and i sat on my bed and talked to God. For the first time in quite a while. I had said that i give up. i dont know what he wants to do with me. i dont know what how to react. i give up. that if he still loved me and wanted me then PLEASE show me a sign. something. something that i would notice.

well. i wanted to go to the Gauntlet this year. but there was no way i could go because of the money issues. the next day i had gotten a text from FUSE* saying that there was going to be a drawing and that whoseever name they pulled out would get this free scholarship thingy that they could give it to someone who wasnt able to go due to shortage of money. So i know that Kirstie doesnt win things. so i threw that out o my mind. like. well that wont be me getting that scholarship.

At FUSE* at the end of the service they drew out the name KIRSTIE LORENTZ. i could not believe it. i was so shocked. and she was too. i was so happy. and she told me that she was giving it to me. I was so freaking happy. and excited. like. im going on the Gauntlet. :D

God gave me a sign. he gave me a sign that told me he was still here. and he always has been. i feel like he is making me go on the Gauntlet to blow my mind. i can feel it. i cant wait to see what God has to tell me at the Gauntlet this year. im really excited about it all. and even more excited that i now KNOW he will always be here. no matter what happens.

Praying for a Full Bus.

April 23, 2009

Check out what’s been going on with the guys from FUSE* and the bus (The L.O.T Project) on Craig Walker’s blog.

“Last week we decided it was time to pray for a specific number. We chose 40. He picked 42. This week we chose 64, the bus capacity. He picked 55! That is an increase of 27 students in two weeks. That means we basically doubled in two weeks!!! The only thing we did different over the last two weeks was to pray for specific numbers that only God could provide. Where these numbers daunting at the time? Yes. Did God provide? Yes.”

P.S. Danielle might have guest posted on The L.O.T Project blog…

Praying at 2 in the mornin’…

March 26, 2009

So the night before last, I woke up at about 2am with an overwhelming feeling that I needed to pray for Pastor Perry. After trying to convince myself that it would just go away and that I could just go back to sleep, I sat up and realized it wouldn’t. I had to pray for him. Right then. And I had no idea what I was praying for. So, I just prayed in the Spirit, as He lead me (See Romans 8:26), until I felt like it was okay to go back to sleep.

The next morning, I was surfing Twitter and I saw this post by Perry:

@perrynoble Hey tweets…could use your prayers today…MAYBE slept two hours total last night and already feeling it!

@perrynoble Hey tweets…THANKS for the prayers today! Had an unusual amount of energy…got WAY more accomplished than I should have! Prayer works!

Check it out: God heals a Clemson student’s scar from rape

March 25, 2009

I read this post by Emily McCanless over on the Clemson Awakening blog and was absolutely ecstatic. She was raped in 9th grade and was left with a horrible scar on her wrist. Check out what God did when she decided to believe this verse:

“I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain,’Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:23-24

What do you think? Can you believe God with that kind of faith?
