A Thought From Paul…

January 25, 2010

1 Timothy 1:12-14

“I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me faithful, appointing me to his service. Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.”

I think that describes how most of us have felt at some time in our walks with Christ. I mean, who are we that we should enter the gates of Heaven? We were all sinners; thoughtless beings seeking only self-preservation. But God gave us new eyes, and I will always be grateful for that.

After being a part of the NewSpring service yesterday at the Bi-Lo Center, I can begin to realize exactly how powerful a thing it is when people cross over from death to life. Not only was I one of those people yesterday, but I also saw  the effect it had on the multitude around me. Perhaps they were remembering their own salvation, or maybe they were considering how amazing Heaven is going to be, with everyone worshiping like this all the time; I don’t know.

All I do know is that when there is life-change, there is celebration.

If someone were to be given, for free, a 2010 Ford Camaro, they would be jumping up and down, thanking the giver all day long, and getting psyched to drive their new car home.

If someone were to be given eternal life in Paradise, don’t you think the celebration level would be a bit higher?

I do believe so.
